Summary
This report highlights data on the health of girls and women in order to draw attention to the consequences and costs of failing to address women's health issues. Furthermore, the report highlights the interplay of biological and social determinants of health and identifies the role of gender inequality in increasing exposure and vulnerability to risk, limiting access to health care and information, and influencing health outcomes. The authors call for primary health care reforms to be implemented in ways that ensure that health systems better meet the needs of girls and women.
