Summary

This report focuses on the impact of malarial and HIV coinfection during pregnancy and infancy and the special considerations related to simultaneous use of antiretroviral treatment (ART) and antimalarial therapy. In addition to background information on malaria infection, prevention, and symptoms, a discussion of the administration of malaria treatment and prophylaxis with cotrimoxazole prophylaxis in HIV-infected women and children is included.
