Summary
In South Africa, from September to October 2009, a total of 27 focus groups and 25 individual interviews were conducted in order to provide an an evidence base for informing the development of communication and social mobilization strategies to support increased PMTCT uptake and efficacy. The report focuses on challenges and opportunities for communication of PMTCT services to various stakeholders. The summary lists key topics that were investigated in the study, including factors that are inhibiting the uptake of PMTCT services in the five sites in South Africa.
