Summary
TB is under-diagnosed in people with HIV, and a major cause of death. Intensified case finding (ICF) is an activity intended to detect possible TB cases among people living with HIV as early as possible. It is strongly encouraged by the World Health Organization. This report describes barriers to increased TB testing of HIV-infected individuals and possible steps to intensify case finding in people living with HIV. It is the first of a 2-part series.
