Summary
ICAP developed generic peer educator materials in order to better support HIV infected people and their families, encourage greater involvement of people living with HIV, and tackle the human resource demands of HIV care by task-shifting. The materials consist of 19 highly participatory modules covering key topics areas necessary to facilitate peer educator integration into the multidisciplinary HIV care team and provide added support in key areas of PMTCT and HIV care and treatment service delivery. The Facilitator Manual gives an overview of the course for facilitators and the Participant Manual contains a simplified version with pictures that can also be used as a reference for peer educators after the training. Both training manuals can easily be adapted to specific country and program contexts.
