Access to HIV Care
|
|
|
Abbott Laboratories' "Access to HIV Care" initiative provides access to the company's Determine HIV-1/2 rapid test and their antiretroviral drug products at cost ("no profit" to the company). This program is available to programs in Africa and the 50 least-developed nations worldwide at discount prices. Abbott's antiretroviral treatments are Kaletra (lopinavir/ritonavir) and Norvir (ritonavir). Abbott also provides HIV-1/2 rapid test kits for antibody to HIV-1/2.

Diflucan Partnership Programme
|
|
|
Pfizer is offering access to Diflucan (fluconazole) free of charge for the treatment of opportunistic infections cryptococcal meningitis and oesophageal candidiasis. This program is available to organizations in sub-Saharan Africa and the least developed countries most in need, with priority given to countries with a greater than 1% HIV/AIDS prevalence.

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation

Provides funding for pediatric HIV/AIDS research and global education about HIV/AIDS in children. In 1999, the Foundation, in conjunction with Global Strategies for HIV Prevention, initiated the International Call to Action Project to establish programs to help reduce the rate of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV in resource-limited countries. Global Strategies for HIV Prevention: Nevirapine for PMTCT
|

Global Strategies for HIV Prevention has established a "Save a Life Program" for the purchase and distribution of nevirapine for the prevention of perinatal HIV transmission. Donation of funds have been obtained primarily from faith-based organizations to be used for hospitals and clinics that have difficulty in accessing other sources of funding and/or drugs. PMTCT Donations
|

A collaboration between Abbott Laboratories and Boehringer Ingelheim offering free Determine HIV rapid tests and nevirapine (Viramune) for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Donations are available to any governments, NGOs, charitable organizations or health care providers with comprehensive PMTCT programs and the approval of local governments.
